Baltimore Beatdown
The Baltimore Ravens signed veteran long snapper Nick Moore to a four-year contract extension on Saturday, per a team announcement.
Moore, 33, signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia in 2019. He did not make the 53-man roster and landed in Baltimore the following offseason. The Ravens called on him once that year as a COVID replacement for longtime long snapper Morgan Cox, who retired after the season. Moore took over in 2021 and has appeared in every game since outside of the 2023 season, which he missed entirely due to a torn Achilles.
The Ravens’ decision to lock down Moore for the next four years is no surprise. The franchise values continuity, especially for their kicking battery. For a decade, it was Justin Tucker, Sam Koch, and Morgan Cox; now, it seems Moore will be snapping for Jordan Stout’s punts and Tyler Loop’s kicks for years to come.
The financial details of the extension have yet to be revealed, but it will likely include a veteran minimum salary in all four years with a small signing bonus. Morgan Cox received a $700,000 signing bonus on his last five-year extension with the Ravens; with one year less but a much higher salary cap, Moore could receive a signing bonus of around $1 million. Long snapper guarantees have increased over the last few years, so he could also have a fully-guaranteed base salary for the first year or two of his extension.
