Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson has cost himself a pretty penny by skipping OTAs.
According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the two-time league MVP has lost a whopping $750,000 worth of bonuses by missing Ravens OTAs. Florio noted that Jackson’s contract included $750,000 bonuses from 2024-2027 if he participates in “at least 80 percent of” team workouts.
After initially requesting a trade in the 2023 offseason, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $260 million. So missing out on that $750,000 payday won’t bother Jackson, but three-quarters of a million dollars can still buy a lot in today’s economy.
It was also reported earlier this week that the Ravens and Jackson have started discussions on a new deal. Seeing how much the quarterback market has skyrocketed since he signed that $260 million extension, Jackson stands to get a nice raise from the current average annual value of $52 million.
Last season, Jackson put together the best numbers of his career as a passer, throwing for 4,172 yards and 41 touchdowns against only four interceptions. Jackson finished second in MVP voting behind Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen.
Jackson and the Ravens will try to begin the 2025 season on a high note when they visit Allen and the Bills on ‘Sunday Night Football’ in Week 1. This will be a rematch of last season’s thrilling Divisional Round tilt that the Bills won 27-25.
