Not long after Mike Tomlin told his team that he would no longer be leading the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday, Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti was asked if Tomlin could be a candidate for his team’s head coaching opening.
The Ravens and longtime head coach John Harbaugh parted ways earlier this month.
“Holy shit, wouldn’t that be awesome?” Bisciotti said, laughing. “Only if John (Harbaugh) takes the Pittsburgh job. Wow. Wouldn’t that be interesting? I don’t know, that thing last week maybe disqualified him from my opening after our kicker missed a kick to let them advance.
“Good for Mike. Yeah, I don’t know. Talk to him. I love Mike. I mean, I’ve admired Mike for 18 years. And that’s really shocking that he did it that way.”

Tomlin has been a bitter rival with the Ravens since he arrived in Pittsburgh in 2007, giving them one last parting shot by knocking them out of the playoffs and claiming an AFC North crown in Week 18. The Steelers will retain Tomlin’s rights.
“This organization has been a huge part of my life for many years, and it has been an absolute honor to lead this team,” Tomlin said in a statement released by the Steelers. “I am deeply grateful to Art Rooney II and the late Ambassador Rooney for their trust and support. … While this chapter comes to a close, my respect and love for the Pittsburgh Steelers will never change.”
Tomlin finishes his Steelers head coaching career with a 22-16 regular-season record against the Ravens.
