Ravens Legend Praises Big Ben: ‘He’s Probably the Most Underrated’

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs praises former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens have been delivering blows to each other on and off the field for many years. But one of the biggest faces from the historic rivalry is now doing quite the opposite.

Ravens legendary linebacker Terrell Suggs recently gave former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger his flowers now in retirement.

“I would say Roethlisberger is underrated. He got more rings than [Aaron] Rodgers. He got more rings than [Drew] Brees. He got more rings than [Dan] Marino. He’s got as many as Peyton [Manning] and Eli [Manning],” Suggs said on the “New Rory and Mal” podcast. “So I would say Roethlisberger. He’s the most underrated.”

Roethlisberger does have the hardware to back up his highly-touted 18-year NFL career. He helped lead Pittsburgh to three Super Bowls and won two (XL and XLIII).

The Steelers couldn’t have done that without making it past Baltimore a time or two, either. During the Steelers second Super Bowl run with Roethlisberger, they hosted and defeated the Ravens in the AFC Championship game.

That wasn’t the only time Roethlisberger had his way against Baltimore. He went 17-10 against the Ravens in the regular season while throwing for 6,643 yards, 43 touchdowns and 25 interceptions.

Suggs had a lot of success of his own, too. In 30 games against Pittsburgh, he had 66 solo tackles, 15.0 sacks, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions.

However, the Steelers still found a way to come out on top more so than the Ravens, and much of that was thanks to Roethlisberger.

“The ones they say are like that,” Suggs continued, “They are like that. Those (expletive) can make your nights long.”
