Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh addressed where Justin Tucker stands with the team as the NFL continues to investigate sexual misconduct claims against the veteran kicker.

In January, The Baltimore Banner published a story where they spoke to six different massage therapists who accused Justin Tucker of sexual misconduct. More women soon came forward, bringing the number of accusers to 16.

The NFL is investigating the allegations against Tucker, who faces the possibility of a lengthy suspension. There have been plenty of calls for the Ravens to cut Tucker, including multiple online petitions demanding action from the league and football team.

Having used a sixth-round pick on Arizona kicker Tyler Loop, it’s easy to assume that Baltimore is fully planning to move on from Tucker. Per ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, however, John Harbaugh told reporters that their decision at kicker will be football-based:

“Every decision we make has to be based on football. There’s a lot of layers to that. You’ve got a rookie kicker and here you took him in the sixth round, early in the sixth round. He’s a talented guy. Just from a football standpoint — salary cap, all the different things that you just take into consideration — whatever we decide to do over the next few weeks will be based on football.”

Loop made 78.3 percent of field goal attempts during his final college season, though his numbers were better in 2022 (85.7 percent) and 2023 (79.2).

Tucker has been Baltimore’s kicker since 2012, replacing Pro Bowler Billy Cundiff after the latter’s costly miss at the end of the 2011 AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots.

Justin Tucker Is Coming Off The Worst Season Of His Career

Regarded by some as the greatest kicker in NFL history, Tucker had a horrible 2024 season that saw him make just 73.3 percent of field goal attempts. Tucker, who has made 100 percent of extra point attempts in seven seasons, also missed two in 2024.

Tucker’s 89.103 field goal percentage is the best in league history, but he’s finished below that mark in three consecutive seasons. Throw in the serious legal matters, and it certainly feels like Tucker’s tenure in Baltimore may be winding down.
