Ravens announce slew of front office promotions
Baltimore Beatdown Baltimore Beatdown

The Baltimore Ravens announced a series of front office promotions earlier this week, as well as an official position for recent hire JoJo Wooden.

Wooden, a former director of player personnel with the Raiders and the Chargers, will be the Ravens’ West Coast area scout. This is somewhat of a change for the longtime executive, who came up in the Jets’ pro scouting department and has not held a college-focused title in his career.

Joining Wooden in the college scouting department will be Joey Cleary and Joe Moreno. Cleary was promoted from assistant director to director of college scouting, while Moreno will take on a Northeast area scout role after two years as a player personnel assistant.

The Ravens’ previous director of college scouting, Andrew Raphael, is now an assistant director of player personnel. He will “work across college and pro scouting in a variety of important ways,” said general manager Eric DeCosta in a statement. Bobby Vega, formerly a scout and senior personnel executive, will hold the same title, while

Nick Matteo, Baltimore’s chief contract negotiator and salary cap manager, is now the vice president of football operations after seven years as the VP of football administration. He will continue to work closely with Sophie Cortese, who was promoted to assistant director of football administration.

In the pro personnel department, Corey Frazier received a title bump from assistant director to director and TJ Ajibola is now a pro scout after seven years as a player personnel assistant.

The Ravens also announced several changes to their football science department, starting with new vice president David McDonald. Formerly the VP of research and development, he leads Baltimore’s data science and analytics efforts. He will be assisted by applied sports scientist Connor Gorny and David Kang, who was promoted to senior data scientist after joining the team last year as a quantitative analyst.
