Green Bay Packers left tackle Rasheed Walker had some strong words to say about the potential of the 2025 Packers in post-practice availability on Wednesday.
Here’s the quote:
And if the goal is to keep it going, then I think we can go undefeated, honestly. I mean, personally, I also tell people that we could have gone undefeated the past two seasons. We lost a lot of the games off a couple plays, but I feel like our offense has been playing so good and so disciplined, and our defense is playing even better.
If you want to hear the words straight from the horse’s mouth, below is a video from Dave Schroeder of WBAY:
I’m going to give Walker the benefit of the doubt here and say that he’s considering “the last two years” as the 2024 and 2025 seasons, considering that the Packers went 9-8 in 2023. I don’t know what the case would be for that team having a claim to being an undefeated type of squad. If you’ll remember, quarterback Jordan Love didn’t even really find his groove until about mid-season that year.
In 2024, though, the Packers lost six games in the regular season. Here were how many points they lost by in those individual games: 5, 2, 10, 3, 2 and 2. So, yeah, outside of Week 9 against the Detroit Lions, they were just one play away from going 16-1 in 2024.
Overall, Green Bay has an 8-1 record in games decided by more than eight points since the start of last year. That’s pretty good!
I still think that Walker got a little over his skis on this one, considering the Philadelphia Eagles’ 22-10 win in the playoffs last year, but I’m glad this team doesn’t see themselves as an underdog in any matchup moving forward.
