As we approach Halloween, it’s not just ghosts, witches, skeletons, and ghouls that have caused some frequent nightmares during this annual season of spookiness.
The Colts continue to consistently terrorize their opponents, and Sunday’s late afternoon performance against the now 1-7 Tennessee Titans wasn’t anything close to a letdown. The Colts dominated on both sides of the ball.
Starting quarterback Daniel Jones continues his impressive debut campaign for the Colts, as he threw for 3 passing touchdowns to 3 different Colts receivers: Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, and Johnathan Taylor.
Jones completed 21 of 29 pass attempts (72.4%) for 272 total passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns, and 0 interceptions.
Speaking of Taylor, the frontrunner for NFL Offensive Player of the Year and a legitimate NFL MVP candidate is in the midst of another monstrous rushing campaign—already leading the league in total rushing yards and touchdowns ahead of Sunday’s latest action respectively. He had 153 total rushing yards on 12 carries (for a whopping 12.8 ypc avg.) to go along with his 2 rushing touchdowns during this late Sunday matinee. Of course, the highlight was an 80-yard touchdown early in the third quarter to safely put this one on ice—if there ever was any realistic doubt.
Defensively, the Colts limited the Titans offense all late afternoon—and specifically, to only just 14 total points.
Cornerback Chris Lammons picked off Titans rookie #1 overall pick Cam Ward midway through the 4th quarter, while the Indy pass rush sacked him 4 times collectively.
Veteran linebacker Germaine Pratt led the Colts defense with 8 tackles.
Colts interim kicker Michael Badgley was 1 for 1 in field goal attempts, with a 43-yard field goal on Indy’s opening offensive drive and a perfect 5 for 5 in extra point attempts.
