Ranking NFL’s Worst QBs Entering Week 10
Sportsnaut Sportsnaut

The NFL’s best quarterbacks have their same usual suspects, such as Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, and some might even say Drake Maye and Daniel Jones deserve consideration too. But what about the NFL’s worst quarterbacks? This is a group that’s bound to be benched either this year or next, unless they can show some improvement.

So, who is the worst quarterback in the NFL today? Roughly halfway though the NFL season, we felt it was time for a refresh, with the NFL’s worst QB at the very bottom of the page.

Geno Smith

You don’t lead the NFL in interceptions without being bad. Players are supposed to keep the ball out of harm’s way, but Geno Smith has failed at doing that this season, as he enters Week 10 with 11 interceptions thus far. Perhaps it can be chalked up to learning a new system with a fresh batch of pass-catchers, but Smith is playing like the Raiders have no choice but to select a quarterback in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Justin Fields

Already on the verge of being benched once this year, Fields could just be one more bad performance away from being replaced by Tyrod Taylor. Fields remains one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks as a runner, but as a passer, he leaves a lot to be desired. He’s started seven games this season, but he still has just 1,089 passing yards, good for an average of 155.9 YPG. Unless combined with one of the league’s best rushing attacks, Fields’ passing output won’t win teams many games and the Jets are learning that the hard way.

Cam Ward

The No. 1 overall pick hasn’t looked like a star talent through nine NFL starts. His 57.6% completion rate ranks as the lowest in the league. He also has more interceptions (6) than touchdowns (5). Ward’s also taking too long to read the field, which has caused him to get sacked an NFL-high 38 times. Overall, he’s easily been one of the NFL’s worst quarterbacks.

Tyler Shough

He’s only started one game, but Shough’s 57.1% completion rate actually ranks lower than Cam Ward’s which is the worst among qualifying passers. Shough’s lone start led to an ugly 34-10 Saints loss, but that’s been a common theme in New Orleans this season. While the sample size is small, Shough hasn’t shown anything to suggest he’s the future solution in Nola.

Dillon Gabriel

The Browns don’t have anything to lose by giving Shedeur Sanders a chance at this point. We’ve seen what Dillon Gabriel is capable of, and he’s topped 200 yards just once in his four starts. Otherwise, he’s averaging just 117 passing yards per game. Why not see if Shedeur is capable of creating a spark? It’s safe to say, Gabriel has easily been one of the NFL’s worst QBs this season.
