There were multiple ranked matchups in Week 3 that came down to the wire with back and forth slobber knockers abound as teams scratch and claw early on in the season for resume builders to bolster their postseason resume.

It didn’t look like your father’s Georgia team on Saturday afternoon in Knoxville, but the Bulldogs inched out an overtime win thanks to clutch plays by the Bulldogs’ remade wide receiver corps. Tennessee’s kicker shanked a 43-yard field goal in the final moments of regulation which took the sails completely out of the Volunteers. The Bulldogs cashed in the first overtime period with a touchdown to answer a Tennessee field goal to pull out the 44-41 road victory.

One of the games of the year was followed by another with Texas A&M pulling out an instant classic in South Bend to drop the Irish to 0-2 on the year. The Aggies erupted for 41 points behind high level efforts from a newly made receiving corps of their own. The Aggies scored in the final seconds of the game and put a pin in the contest thanks to a missed extra point on the previous drive. Texas A&M wins a tightly contested, explosive ball game 41-40.

The Clemson Tigers rule over the ACC they possessed for a decade is on the brink of collapse after falling to 1-2 on the season as they were stunned on the road against Georgia Tech. There’s no doubting Dabo Swinney’s squad is talented. But aspects of the offense certainly look broken despite all of that talent. Clemson’s College Football Playoff hopes now are on the brink in the middle of September.

Tennessee WR Chris Brazzell dazzles against talented Georgia defense

The Volunteers have plenty of talented pass catchers on their squad. It was certainly no fault of the offense that the Vols couldn’t pull out the victory on Saturday. Brazzell had two massive touchdowns in which he won in a contested situation over a Georgia corner and finished the job for touchdowns. He finished the day with 6 receptions for 177 yards and three scores. You don’t see Georgia get scorched by one player often. But the talents that do certainly should raise some eyebrows. Brazzell has exceptional size and speed. If he becomes a potential downfield ball winner and plays to his 6’5” 200-pound frame, that’s a potentially exciting addition to this receiver class.

Arkansas QB Taylen Green stock soaring despite mediocre defensive play

There aren’t too many players in college football elevating their stock quite like Taylen Green through a quarter of the season. Green was lights out once again on Saturday in a loss to to Ole Miss. He led his team to put 35 on...
