Random Ramsdom: What if they can’t fix the kicking problem?

What if the Los Angeles Rams cannot make their kicking unit better this year? Let’s say they make a coaching change, will it help? It’s been 9 weeks, and the kicking situation hasn’t been ideal, and one has to wonder will it improve?

Now, has the team impressed so far by recovering from two very tough losses? They sure have. Does this team look like one of the best squads going right now? Yes, they do. Can all that positive momentum change with a loss in Week 10? Maybe.

More specifically, will this team be trusted to win if their kicking unit continues to cost them points? I doubt it.

Sean McVay: Issues with kicking game have gone on for too long, it can’t continue like this (nbcsports)

“It’s going to cost us — it’s cost us already,” McVay said. “It’s been a momentum killer. It does take the air out of our sails. Our guys have shown they can respond and overcome it. But you do have to be — the harsh and the truth of it is, is this is not sustainable to continuously go where we want to go. And that’s really, just trying to be able to get our seventh win against an excellent football team. We’re fortunate that we’ve gotten away with it. But it has cost us throughout the season. And that’s something you can’t run away from. That’s the truth.”

We’ll have to see what happens, but to this point, the Rams kicking unit has been shaky, and it’s not a glitch, it’s a trend.

What do I know? And hey, this team has been pretty sick the last few weeks now. Enjoy the good while you can.

Speaking of good, thank you for checking out Turf Show Times and have a great Wednesday!

McQuaide, 37, was an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State, who signed with the Rams in 2011. He would stay with the team during their return to Los Angeles and through the Sean McVay transition, departing after the 2020 season. He would re-join former Rams Special Teams Coach John Fassel in Dallas that offseason.“
