Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 5/5/25

Matt LaFleur was at one time with the Los Angeles Rams, and he was part of the group that added Cooper Kupp as LaFleur was working with Sean McVay in McVay’s first year with the team, and LaFleur expressed that he didn’t think Kupp would be the player he became when L.A. selected Kupp.

Of course, in LaFleur’s defense, who actually predicted Kupp having one of the greatest NFL seasons of all time?

It will be interesting to see what Kupp does with the Seattle Seahawks, and who knows? Maybe one day LaFleur and Kupp will be reunited, but I’d guess Kupp would have to go to the Green Bay Packers for that to happen.

Matt LaFleur Admits Not Being Stoked About Drafting Cooper Kupp for the Rams (thesportsrush.com)

“We’ve drafted guys I haven’t been too excited about. Two years down the line, I was ecstatic about,” LaFleur admitted.

When asked to name one, he hesitated before saying, “We drafted Cooper Kupp, and I thought we needed a speed receiver. It didn’t take long before I realized, I was like, goddamn, I’m glad we got Cooper Kupp. Because he was a baller. And I know that makes me look like an idiot.”

Rams Given Surprising Draft Class Rank Compared to NFC (si.com)

“As a result to their approach, Sports Illustrated’s Gilberto Manzano recently released a ranking of draft classes in the NFC, with the Rams finishing with a grade of “C” and the 14th overall ranking. That’s out of 16 teams.

“The Rams got a gift when the Falcons made them a hard-to-refuse offer for their No. 26 pick in exchange for a first rounder next year and other selections.” Wrote Manzano. “But by doing that, Los Angeles hindered this year’s roster a bit. The Rams dropped 20 spots to select Ferguson, who was viewed by many draft experts as the fifth-rated tight end prospect. The team passed on drafting tight end Elijah Arroyo, who went to the rival Seahawks. Los Angeles neglected a few needs in the back of the defense, but made a strength even stronger with the selection of Stewart.”

A look at the NFC West rival LA Rams draft class and UDFA signings (cardswire)

“On another Sunday in the NFL offseason, it is time to draw our attention to the rest of the NFC West to see what is going on with the Arizona Cardinals’ division rivals.

But a little more than a week after the NFL draft, let’s check in with each team in the division to see what players they drafted and what rookie free agents they signed.

Let’s look at the Los Angeles Rams.”
