Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 6/26/25
The Los Angeles Rams have waived wide receiver Quintez Cephus who was originally drafted by the Detroit Lions. I get the feeling Cephus will be back with another team as he’s had some real flashes in the NFL, but it looks like he will not be back with the Rams this season, then again you never know what the future holds.
Cephus getting waived gives more opportunities for other receivers who are still with the Rams, and with a couple months to go, expect more cuts to come. Some may be surprising, some may be expected. That’s the nature of the beast.
Please comment on whatever you want, thanks for checking out Turf Show Times and have a great day!
“Cephus came into the NFL as a fifth-round pick by the Detroit Lions in 2020. He’s caught just 37 passes for 568 yards and four touchdowns since then, most of which came in his first two years in Detroit.”
“The Los Angeles Rams adjusted Matthew Stafford’s contract this offseason after the veteran quarterback was left with minicamp guaranteed money on his previous deal. Under his new contract, Stafford is signed through 2026 and can earn up to $84 million with $80 million total guaranteed.
It was a nice raise from what he was set to make, raising his cash payout for 2025 from $27 million to $44 million, while also lowering his cap hit from $49.67 million to $47.47 million. Even after reducing his cap hit for the upcoming season, Stafford’s number is still one of the highest in the NFL.”
“Well, that’s two different questions there, Claudette”, replied Carpenter. “So let’s take the second one first. Do they have to start planning for the future? Yes, but Les Snead’s your general manager. He’s already been planning for the future before Matthew Stafford was the future. He’s probably already thinking about the future, past, the future, and that’s just what makes him a great general manager. Number one, so do they have to start planning? Yes, and they already are.”
