Random Ramsdom: All loud on the Matthew Stafford front
Turf Show Times Turf Show Times

I still think Matthew Stafford opens up Week 1 for the Los Angeles Rams, and I think he’ll play in more than 10 games this season, but if you are worried that Stafford will miss half the season and or are worried that Stafford is missing valuable practice reps with his team, I am not going to argue with you.

Being concerned at any point over Stafford getting hurt is fair, so I don’t know if I am in denial, or if I just trust Sean McVay and his strategies to a fault, but I think the Rams will be fine going into this year, I think they are going to win more games than lose, and I think Stafford is going to be a part of that.

However, to bring it full circle, if you are afraid, if you are very afraid, if you think there has been too much Matthew Stafford news for your comfort, then be afraid, be very afraid.

Happy Tuesday! Thanks for checking out Turf Show Times and let’s hope it’s a fast work week! I am ready for the weekend already. More football too.

Matthew Stafford’s back issue not the only big injury question the Rams are dealing with right now (cbssports)

“Stafford’s absence from practice has overshadowed the fact that Alaric Jackson has also missed all of training camp. The left tackle, who started 14 games at the position last year for the Rams, hasn’t been able to practice due to blood clots. Although the Rams have left the door open for him to play in Week 1 against the Houston Texans, there’s certainly a chance that he won’t be ready.

McVay was asked on Sunday if Jackson would be able to play in the opener.

“We’re still evaluating that,” McVay said.

With Jackson’s status up in the air, the Rams have been holding an open competition in training camp between Warren McClendon and D.J. Humphries, who was just signed in June. McVay also mentioned David Quesenberry as a possibility.“

Sean McVay explains why Matthew Stafford didn’t return to practice as anticipated (ramswire)

“Matthew Stafford has been sidelined by a back injury since the start of camp but Monday was supposed to be a big day for the Los Angeles Rams quarterback. Sean McVay anticipated Stafford returning to practice after a great workout on Saturday where he threw 60-plus passes without limitations, but the Rams opted to hold him out once again.

He didn’t return as expected and after practice wrapped up in Woodland Hills, McVay explained why Stafford continued to be sidelined. He told reporters that Stafford’s back “didn’t feel great,” so he opted to sit out again.“
