Week 5 of NFL action begins tonight, with the Los Angeles Rams hosting the San Francisco 49ers for another classic NFC West showdown. The 49ers will once again be without quarterback Brock Purdy, who’s been dealing with left shoulder and toe injuries, the latter of which has him on a week-to-week timeline at the moment.
That means for the third game, it’s the Mac Jones show at quarterback, though we’re likely to see a very healthy dose of running back Christian McCaffrey. Jones will have once-and-former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Marquez Valdez-Scantling at his disposal, but receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings are both out for tonight’s game.
Los Angeles and San Francisco are both 3-1, with the Niners atop the division, and the Rams listed third, and the Seattle Seahawks nesting between the two.
A major reason many will tune in this evening is due to wide receiver Puka Nacua’s stats. Nacua is on an absolute tear in 2025, leading the league in targets (50; 42 receptions) and also yards (503). If Nacua were to maintain that pace all season, he’d finish with a stat line of 213 targets (179 receptions) for 2,138 yards.

Of course there’s a lot more to watch other than Nacua, but he’s on a truly historic pace. Tonight’s winner will claim early and sole possession of first place in the NFC West. Who’s it gonna be?
Here’s your open thread for tonight’s Thursday Night Football on Prime showdown. As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
