The Los Angeles Rams are signing cornerback Tre Brown to the 53-man roster, the team announced on Tuesday. With veteran Ahkello Witherspoon expected to miss at least two months with a broken clavicle, Sean McVay told the media that the Rams would likely have to find additional help at cornerback and so far it appears that the answer is Brown, a fifth-year veteran who played four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.
Brown was a fourth round pick out of Oklahoma in 2021 and has spent all four years with the Seahawks. He started a career-high seven games in 2023, making two interceptions and 34 tackles with Seattle that season. However, Brown was unable to secure a regular role as a starter and the team parted ways with him as a free agent in 2025. He has also gone through a series of injuries in his career, causing him to miss most of his first two seasons in the NFL.
In fact, Brown signed with the San Francisco 49ers in free agency but was released last month after he was temporarily placed on IR. This signing is an indication that L.A. thinks Brown is healthy enough to return to the field.
At 5β10, 185 lbs, Brown is more suited for an inside role than outside. Although PFF gave Brown a high grade in 2023, what do you really need to know for context other than he has been an afterthought in the league despite this:
In any case, it is unlikely that Brown is going to be able to help much in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles, but you never know. Brown now joins a cornerback room with Cobie Durant, Emmanuel Forbes, Quentin Lake, Darious Williams, and Josh Wallace. The team moved Witherspoon to IR to open up a spot for Brown.
