Matthew Stafford is set to play in his 11th Thanksgiving Day game...

The 2025 NFL League schedule has yet to drop, but there have been a few reveals and leaks to begin this week. We already know that the Los Angeles Rams are set to travel to London for an away game in Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, the latest news, as of last night is that the Rams are set to host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the prime time game on Thanksgiving Day.

Rams fans have been longing for the opportunity to see their team play on Thanksgiving as the team has not played in a “turkey bowl” in 50 years. It appears the NFL recognized its opportunity to get the Rams back into the festivities.

Matthew Stafford played in 10 Thanksgiving Day games during his tenure with the Detroit Lions. His overall record was 4-6 with the Lions, but we all know the lack of a supporting cast that he was surrounded by during his years with the team. The NFL getting Stafford back into the Thanksgiving spotlight is an appropriate gesture for a quarterback with his career longevity, stats, and history on that day.

Stafford said this about the Thanksgiving Game back in 2023...

“Oh yeah. Absolutely, I loved it. I love playing in that game,” Stafford said. “I love playing the early game, especially always at home. It’s a pretty good gig. Go play the game and come home, have Thanksgiving dinner like everybody else pretty much at 5:30 or 6:00 and watch whatever game is on at that point. Then you’ve got the rest of the weekend off so you don’t have to watch what you eat, kind of have a good time with it. Last couple years, obviously little different stories so got to kind of pace yourself on Thursday and make sure you don’t go too crazy knowing you’ve got a game on Sunday. It’s something I miss for sure and just that tradition is a really cool one.”

Even though the game isn’t early, I don’t think Stafford will be complaining about getting a chance to play on Thanksgiving again.

The last and only time the Tampa Bay Buccaneers appeared on Thanksgiving was in 2006 when they faced the Dallas Cowboys; losing 38-10.

In any event, mark your calendars and get your turkeys Rams fans, Los Angeles will play November 27th at 8:15pm EST.
