Rams release recent draft pick ahead of final cuts

The Los Angeles Rams released edge rusher Brennan Jackson on Monday, one day before final cuts are due. The 2024 fifth round pick out of Washington State had the second-most sacks of any player in the preseason but has been the most disappointing prospect from last year’s class.

Jackson appeared in seven games as a rookie in 2024, finishing with three tackles and one batted pass.

Last year’s draft class has been mostly a success so far with picks like Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Kamren Kinchens, Josh Karty, and Beaux Limmer, but not all are guaranteed a spot on 2025’s roster.

Jackson is now a candidate for the practice squad and is likely to make it through waivers going unclaimed. It is highly improbable that a team would open a spot on their 53-man roster to claim Jackson now that he’s been released, which is what a team would need to do. If unclaimed, Jackson makes sense for the practice squad.
