Maui was devastated by wildfires in 2023. The Rams do their part in helping them rebuild.

The Los Angeles Rams are in Hawaii this week for the Maui minicamp. The team isn’t there only for their final football work before training camp, as they are also doing a small part in helping the community rebuild from the devastating fires in 2023.

In partnership with Hollman Lockers, the Rams built new locker rooms for Lahainaluna High School. Andrew Whitworth talked to the media on behalf of the team and Hollman Lockers:

That’s why it’s such a cool opportunity for me today—to announce to the young student athletes—that in partnership with Hollman Lockers, Forty Nine Degrees, the Hawaii Tourism Authority, and the Rams as well, they’re going to have brand new lockers donated to them.

According to FEMA, the 2023 wildfires destroyed more than 200 structures and caused approximately $5.5M in damages. Over 100 individuals lost their lives. The Lahaina region—where the Rams coordinating the new lockers—was the most severely impacted.

More than 450 Lahainaluna High School student athletes and coaches saw their homes destroyed in the fires:

As part of our partnership to launch Mauicamp with the Hawai’i Tourism Authority, we’re thrilled to support Lahainaluna High School and its student-athletes who have been such an inspiration to their community,” said Molly Higgins, Rams Executive Vice President of Community Impact and Engagement. ”This has been a passion project of our Rams’ partnership and creative teams who have worked alongside our partners in conjunction with coaches, student-athletes, and the broader Lahaina community to bring this vision to life.

“We’re honored to bring the same state-of-the-art lockers that we build for collegiate and professional sports teams to Lahainaluna High School,” said Travis Hollman, CEO of Hollman Lockers. “After everything they’ve been through, these student athletes deserve the best, and we’re proud to donate the lockers to this worthy community.”

“Our players have faced unimaginable challenges, and this support from the Rams, Hollman Lockers, and Forty Nine degrees will have a meaningful impact on the school and the entire island of Maui,” said Dean Rickard, Co-Head Coach of Lahainaluna High School Football. “The lockers mean more than just a place to gear up – they represent a fresh start and a symbol of the community’s resilience. We are grateful for the support and excited about the journey ahead.”

“Mahalo to the LA Rams, Hollman Lockers, and Forty Nine Degrees for making this possible,” said Caroline Anderson, Interim President & CEO for the Hawai’i Tourism Authority. “We are excited that Lahainaluna High School’s student-athletes will receive new locker rooms. This highlights the positive impact collaboration can have, with not only revitalizing the school’s facilities but also serving as an inspiration for the students to strive for success.”
