Is PFN’s prediction of a Rams collapse going to be accurate?

Are the Rams doomed to fail? According to ProFootballNetwork, that’s a distinct possibility in their opinions because L.A. “going from first to worst” was among their bold predictions for the 2025 season.

With Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp possibly on the move, a team that was walking a fine line to begin with could see their house of cards come crumbling down in a major way. It’s easy to project a significant dropoff on the offensive side of the ball (C+ grade in Offense+ last season, 11th best), and the writing is on the wall when it comes to the defense.

Sack Rates: 2019-21: 8.1% (second) and 2022-24: 6.4% (23rd)

We all know the value that the quarterback position holds and so it stands to reason that making the opponents’ QB uncomfortable is tied to success when it comes to defenses.

PFN specifically points to the defense having a lower sack rate in the past three seasons as compared to the previous three seasons, which is in stark contrast to the perception than the Rams have one of the best young defensive lines in the NFL after drafting Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Kobie Turner, and Byron Young in the past two years.

PFN notes that of the 5 teams with the lowest sack rates in 2024, 4 of them finished with 12 or 13 losses. The site goes as far to say that L.A.’s win total (10) could be cut in half next season if they don’t improve on both sides of the ball.

How the Rams offense does is of course more unpredictable than usual right now because of the uncertain outcomes for Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp. The latter is on the trade block and the former could end up there.

What do you think, could the Rams go from first to worst or is this one too bold?
