When the Los Angeles Rams signed Davante Adams to a two-year, $46 million contract in March, they surely knew the potential injury problems that could arise given the star wide receiver’s age and past issues. They accepted those risks for the chance to win a championship. His stay in LA has hit its first real snag. Adams missed his second practice in a row due to a hamstring issue, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The three-time All-Pro’s status for Sunday’s matchup versus the undefeated Indianapolis Colts is now under the microscope in light of this development. The Rams feel confident in their collective talents, knowing they are two blocked field goals away from defeating the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and starting the campaign 3-0, but they do not want to dig themselves out from an early-season hole like last year.

An inactive Adams would make it harder to vanquish a visiting Colts team that has proven to be the biggest surprise of the first three weeks. The 32-year-old has 213 receiving yards and scored a touchdown in each of the last two games. He is looking like a nice compliment to Puka Nacua, just as the Rams intended when they added him in free agency.

LA needs Davante Adams to stay healthy when the stakes are at their highest. If he does suit up for this upcoming inter-conference showdown, head coach Sean McVay may want to exercise some caution. Though, when this veteran playmaker is on the field, it is hard to limit him.

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and company recognize what this man can do when he is unleashed on defenses. Father Time is on his way, but the two-time receiving touchdowns leader clearly still has something left in the tank.

He has to get right, though. Adams will presumably have to log a practice on Friday to have any chance of facing the Colts.
