The Los Angeles Rams (3-1) beat to the Indianapolis Colts (3-1) by a final score of 27-20. This was a hard-fought game between two tough defenses and offenses that offer a lot of promise and it ended up being L.A. who found a way to pull away with Tutu Atwell’s first touchdown of the year.

To start the game, Daniel Jones threw an interception, but the Rams could only muster three points off the turnover, but they did earn the first lead of the day with a 3-0 score.

The Colts responded quickly to tie the game at 3-3, before eventually scoring a touchdown to take a 10-3 lead with a Tyler Warren rushing score.

The Rams would tack on another field goal to make the score 10-6, and the Rams defense would hold the Colts in check forcing a punt before the two minute-warning in the second quarter.

We should also take the time to acknowledge that the Colts would’ve scored a long touchdown to take control of the game, but second-year receiver Adonai Mitchell fumbled the ball out of the endzone instead as he crossed the goal line. There was no excuse for the mistake and it kept the Rams in the game.

The Rams later put together what may have been their best drive of the year when they marched 90+ yards down the field and took a 13-10 lead after a gorgeous Matthew Stafford throw to Davante Adams. The Rams chewed up most of the clock and easily took their 13-10 lead into the third quarter.

L.A. seemed to find a new gear to close out the half, but then they failed to put up any points in third quarter and allowed the Colts to retake the lead by a score of 17-13 after Daniel Jones’s first touchdown throw of the day.

On the next possession, Kyren Williams, who had been running well for most of the day, got blown up and fumbled the ball easily allowing the Colts to tack on another field goal and increase their lead to 20-13.

The game was far from over, but the Colts had control with a seven-point lead.

With the pressure on, the Rams put together a wonderful touchdown drive capped off with a Stafford TD throw to Puka Nacua to tie the game at 20-20, but the Colts had 3:00+ minutes to work with, meaning they could put this game away.

Instead of Indy winning or taking a lead, L.A.’s defense held their own and gave Stafford and McVay a chance with just under 2-minutes to go in the fourth quarter to win this game, and that’s when Stafford found Tutu Atwell for an 88-yard go-ahead touchdown as the Rams led 27-20 after the extra point with 1:33 left in regulation.

L.A.’s defense held the line when Kam Curl earned his second interception of the game, and all but sealed the game away for the Rams.
