Rams announce 2 joint training camp practices

The Los Angeles Rams will hold joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys on August 11, and the New Orleans Saints on August 20, according to the NFL. Both practices will be in Los Angeles with the Rams as the “home team”.

These joint practices have proven to be more valuable and revealing than preseason games in recent years, especially as it pertains to the Rams.

Sean McVay will not play starters in the preseason, and most key backups will also be withheld from participating in exhibition games, meaning that it’s almost exclusively L.A.’s practice squad that gets those reps. One of the only major exceptions has been Stetson Bennett, one of the most experienced preseason quarterbacks ever. Bennett is likely to get most of the preseason reps this year as well, depending on how much McVay wants to expose Ty Simpson to a potential injury while also gaining some valuable experience.

It is almost certain that Simpson will be playing in these joint practices, however. Making them even more intriguing.
