What has been trending all trending became a reality Friday —- the Las Vegas Raiders will be facing a backup quarterback Sunday when the 1-1 Raiders visit the 1-1 Washington Commanders (kickoff is at 10 a.m. PT).
Friday, Washington head coach Dan Quinn ruled out star quarterback Jayden Daniels of the game. Daniels has a knee sprain. He didn’t practice Wednesday and Thursday and was limited Friday. Yet the team doesn’t think he will be ready to play Sunday.
Thus, the Commanders will be quarterbacked by backup Marcus Mariota. He hasn’t started a game since 2022. Mariota, 31, was a Raiders’ backup in 2020-21.
This is clearly a huge break for the Raiders and they must take advantage.
The Commanders have an overall banged up roster and barring any setbacks, the Raiders, who have had the injury advantage in every game so far, said have a full lineup.
The Raiders’ injury report will be released later Friday and it will be updated here.
