Silver And Black Pride
In the end, the 2-6 Las Vegas Raiders only unloaded starting wide receiver Jakobi Meyers at the NFL trade deadline Tuesday.
Meyers was the Raiders’ most obvious and most reported about trade chip. So, it was no surprise the team sent him to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday for fourth and sixth-round draft picks in 2026.
Yet, first-year general manager John Spytek and head coach Pete Carroll opted to to sell other pieces even though the team is not in the AFC playoff chase.
It’s really no surprise, because there wasn’t much actual smoke about potential trade in recent days.
There had been some chatter that centered around tight end Michael Mayer, guard Jackson Powers-Johnson, cornerback Eric Stokes and pass-rusher Malcolm Koonce. There was a report Tuesday that said the Green Bay Packers inquired about Mayer with Tucker Kraft out for the season.
Koonce and Stokes (like Meyers) is in the final years of their contract. So, if they leave next offseason, the Raiders can hope for compensation in the form of 2027 comp picks.
Of course, there were the typical rounds of of unsubstantiated rumors about star defensive end Maxx Crosby. But the team made that clear it wouldn’t happen.
So, the 2025 trade season ends with just Meyers leaving the program.
