New wide receiver played for Chip Kelly in college

The Las Vegas Raiders signed wide receiver Kyle Philips as a free agent Tuesday.

Let’s take a closer look at Philips:

Size:

5-11, 189 pounds.

NFL experience:

Philips was a fifth-round draft pick of the Tennessee Titans in 2022. He spent time on the injured reserve in both 2022 and 2023 for the Titans, He played a total of 13 games in the two seasons. He has 23 career catches for 259 yards. He has nine punt returns for 85 yards and he has one kick return for 13 yards. He has lost two fumbles on punt returns. He spent the 2024 season on the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad and won a Super Bowl ring with the Eagles.

College:

He went to UCLA. He played 33 games for the Bruins and had 163 receptions (the fourth most in school history) for 1,821 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Ties to the Raiders:

Philips’ head coach at UCLA was new Las Vegas offensive coordinator Chip Kelly.

How he will fit in with Raiders:

Philips is an early signing for the Raiders and clearly Kelly pushed to get this done and clearly Phillips felt strongly about reuniting with his college coach. Philips, 25, has a chance to make the 53-man roster if he has a good training camp and preseason.
