Former Michigan linebacker will try to make the roster
The Las Vegas Raiders signed linebacker Michael Barrett as a free agent recently.
Let’s take a closer look at Barrett:
Size:
6-0, 239 pounds.
NFL experience:
Barrett was a seventh-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in 2024. He was traded to the Seattle Seahawks at the end of training camp. He didn’t make Seattle’s roster and spent time on the Seahawks’, Cleveland Browns’ and Green Bay Packers’ practice squads before being called up to the Packers’ active roster in January.
College:
Barrett played for Jim Harbaugh at Michigan. He was part of the program for six seasons, spanning 2018-23 and he is the all-time winningest player in Wolverines’ history as he was part of 61 victories, including winning the National Championship in his final season. He started all 15 games that season and was a third-ream All-Big Ten selection.
How he will fit in with Raiders:
Johnson, who turns 26 in December, has a chance to make some noise in a wide-open linebacker competition. But he will need to show he belongs. He’s already been parted ways with by four organizations and he is an older player for having such little NFL experience. His best bet may be making the practice squad and then trying to develop in the Raiders’ program.
