Here are some live updates from the Las Vegas Raiders game at the New England Patriots on Sunday:
First quarter
The Raiders got the ball first and on the first play, quarterback Geno Smith hit superstar tight end Brock Bowers for a 23-yard reception tp get into New England territory. Then, rookie Ashton Jeanty went nine yards on his first carry. Lots of firepower with Bowers and Jeanty. Then, Smith hit a wide open Tre Tucker for a touchdown on third down and 11. What a start for this new-look offense.
The Patriots took the ensuing kickoff 41 yards to create excellent field position for quarterback Drake Maye. However, New England went three-and-out.
The Raiders moved the ball on their second drive with big pass plays from Smith to receivers Jakobi Meyers and rookie Jach Bech. Smith had 109 yards passing in the quarter up to that point. But he threw his second questionable pass of the series and it was intercepted deep in Patriots’ territory.
