Raiders-Patriots: 5 things to watch
Silver And Black Pride Silver And Black Pride

The Las Vegas Raiders begin the 2025 regular season Sunday at the New England Patriots. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. PT.

Here are five things to watch for:

Offensive cohesion:

A lot is expected from the Las Vegas offense as they begin the Chip Kelly, Geno Smith and Ashton Jeanty era. This can be an explosive dynamic offense. But it also may take some time to get going. So, it will be interesting to see how well the Raiders’ new-look offense will click in Week 1.

Tackle well:

The Raiders didn’t tackle a lot this summer besides the three preseason games for the most part. So, being crisp on defense is a key. There are question marks about this side of the ball anyway, so Las Vegas must help itself by playing well fundamentally on defense.

Opening-day rust and jitters:

Week 1 is always unpredictable across the league. Honestly, it can be a total mess. Some teams that will end up having a solid season will look awful and vice versa. So, anything can happen in this game. On paper, I think both teams are pretty evenly matched, so it could be a good, close game.

Brock all day:

Smith has said he feels bad when he doesn’t target Raiders’ star tight end Brock Bowers. Smith is right. Bowers is an unreal weapon. He had as stunning, record-breaking rookie season. it was no fluke. get the ball to Bowers and good things happen.

Contain Drake Maye:

The Patriots’ second-year quarterback will likely come out firing and will test the Raiders’ cornerbacks. Las Vegas has to get pressure on Maye and keep him from getting comfortable.
