Raiders sign another veteran

The Las Vegas Raiders linebackers position has had some changes this offseason. Here is a look at where the position so far:

New free agent added:

Elandon Roberts (Pittsburgh Steelers), Devin White (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Jaylon Smith (Didn’t play in 2024).

Free agent who departed:

Robert Spillane (New England Patriots).

Divine Deablo (Atlanta Falcons).

Current free agents:

Luke Masterson

Released:

Kana’i Mauga (Exclusive rights).

Signed to restricted free agent offer sheet:

Christian Ellis (New England). Patriots matched.

Returners:

Amari Burney, Tommy Eeichenberg, Amari Gainer

Draft:

It was a surprise that the Raiders waited to the seventh round to address this position when they took Minnesota’s Cody Lindenberg. He may be a good value and has a chance to male the roster.

Conclusion:

There is big change here. The Raiders need Roberts, who is a solid, reliable veteran, to stay healthy and White will compete for a job. They also need their young players to quickly develop as they adjust to the major change at the position this offseason. Smith, who turns 30 in June, will be given a chance to make the roster, but after not playing in 2024, it’s no sure thing he will win a roster spot.
