Pete Carroll is going to college coaching ranks hiring Ohio St offensive coordinator Chip Kelly for the same position with the Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders have filled their coaching staff with announcing their newest hire. Pete Carroll went to the college ranks to find his new offensive coordinator. He is hiring Chip Kelly from Ohio State to lead the offense for the silver and black.

Kelly had a run in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers as a head coach. It started hot, with Raiders fans remembering the seven-touchdown game from Nick Foles. However, it fell apart when he took control, trading key players and then going 2-14 with the 49ers.

He then returned to UCLA, having moderate success and rebuilding the program. Kelly left to become the Ohio State offensive coordinator and helped lead the team to a national championship in 2024. This could be why Carroll brought him back to the NFL.

With Kelly on board, the Raiders coaching staff is ready to go and start building for the 2025 season. Hopefully, Kelly not being the head coach will allow him to focus on creating a scheme that can succeed in the NFL. Kliff Kingsbury is an example of a coach who performed better as an OC than a head coach. For the Raiders, they would need the same result.
