The stumbling Las Vegas Raiders, who are 1-4 and have lost four straight games, are monitoring two major injuries headed into Week 6 as they prepare to host the Tennessee Titans.

Las Vegas coach Pete Carroll said Monday that star punter A.J. Cole suffered a low-ankle sprain in Sunday’s 40-6 loss at the Indianapolis Colts when he was injured on a blocked punt.

A low-ankle sprain is a better outcome than a high-ankle sprain. Carroll said Cole will try to kick Friday in an attempt to play Sunday. So, this will be a week-long development. Carroll also said the team may add a punter this week just in case. There is an opening on the 53-man roster now that the team has released linebacker Germaine Pratt.

Kicker Daniel Carlson punted in the second half at the Colts. Cole can still hold on field-goal attempts, as he did after getting hurt Sunday.

Meanwhile, Carroll said Monday that star tight end Brock Bowers is “week-to-week.“ It is unknown if that means he is out this week, but it could be the case. Sunday, Carroll said Bowers was ‘day-to-day” with the knee injury that kept him out of the game.

He was injured in Week 1, but played through the injury for the next three weeks. Clearly, that didn’t help his recovery.
