The Las Vegas Raiders are about to embark on another head-coaching search (the third in three years) as owner Mark Davis has fired Antonio Pierce after one full season.

January 18

6:30 p.m.: Brandon Brown, Giants’ assistant general manager, will have an in-person interview on Monday. This will be his second interview after meeting virtually last week.


January 17

12:02 p.m.: The Raiders are reportedly interviewing former Carolina and Washington head coach Ron Rivera for their head-coaching job. He is the eighth known candidate Las Vegas has asked to interview.

11:58 a.m.: The Tennessee Titans are hiring the Chiefs’ Mike Borgonzi as their general manager. Raiders’ candidates Jon-Eric Sullivan and John Spytek were among six finalists for the job. The Raiders and Jets’ GM jobs remain open.

6:39 a.m.: Deion Sanders is reportedly interested in the Raiders’ coaching job. The Raiders are reportedly not interested in him. Raiders’ star Maxx Crosby would be cool if Sanders was his coach, though, and has a long relationship with him.


January 16

6:17 a.m.: The Raiders are interviewing Vance Joseph Thursday and Robert Saleh on Friday for the head-coaching job.

6:01 a.m.: Could the Chiefs be the reason Ben Johnson doesn’t go to Las Vegas, Adam Schefter thinks that may be the case.


January 15

6:34 p.m.: Per Mike Klis of 9News in Denver, Vance Joseph will interview with the Raiders on Thursday. In addition to being the Broncos’ defensive coordinator over the last two years, he was the team’s head coach in 2017 and 2018.

6:20 p.m.: The Athletic is reporting that Robert Saleh will interview in person later this week while Todd Monken’s and Vance Joseph’s interviews are to be determined. Monken’s interview is tricky with the Ravens still being in the playoffs but Joseph is free to meet since the Broncos got eliminated last week.

4:29 p.m.: A fifth GM candidate, Chad Alexander of the Los Angeles Chargers, is the latest Raiders’ candidate.

2:28 p.m.: A fourth GM candidate, Brandon Brown of the New York Giants, has emerged for the Raiders.

10:29 a.m.: Ben Johnson explains how he is different in interviews during this coaching cycle.

9:10 a.m.: The Athletic has a look at the Raiders’ hiring committee.


January 14

5:14 p.m.: The Raiders are asking permission to talk to Pittsburgh’s Sheldon White for their open general manager job.

6:24 a.m.: The Raiders are requesting to interview Tampa Bay’s John Spytek for the general manager job. Spytek was with Tom Brady with the Buccaneers and at Michigan.

6:18 a.m.: The Raiders put their first interview request for an interview for a general manager as they asked to interview Green Bay Packers vice president of personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan.


January 13
