To be true, the Las Vegas Raiders’ wide receiver room is a bit of a mess right now.

Jakobi Meyers is good, no doubt. But asking him to carry the load as a true WR1 feels like handing a Swiss Army knife a chainsaw job.

He’s just not built for that. And behind him? It’s a youth experiment that hasn’t even taken its first test.

Enter Treylon Burks.

Yes, the guy the Titans drafted in the first round back in 2022, who’s been fighting uphill ever since. Injuries, bad quarterback play, more injuries, it hasn’t been pretty in Tennessee. But maybe Vegas could be the right place to hit reset.

Las Vegas Raiders Could Take A Shot At A Low-Risk

Cory Woodroof of For the Win floated a trade idea that makes some sense: send Burks to the Raiders in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick. That’s the kind of gamble you take when your receiver depth chart looks shaky and your offense needs a shot of juice.

“Burks’ time in Tennessee feels nigh,” Woodroof wrote. “Las Vegas has real questions at receiver, and Burks could contend for a starting role or a key depth role in Chip Kelly’s offense.”

It’s not hard to see why this move might work for both sides—the Titans clear space for younger receivers. The Raiders roll the dice without really risking anything. If Burks sticks, great. If not, they’re out almost nothing, mainly if the pick is only owed if he makes the roster.

Let’s also not forget: this offense won’t rely on a dominant WR1. Brock Bowers, the rookie tight end out of Georgia, might already be the most dangerous pass-catcher on the roster. Michael Mayer is in line for a bigger role, too. And if guys like Jack Bech or Dont’e Thornton develop quickly, Vegas suddenly has a lot of young talent in the mix.

Still, depth matters. Experience matters. And Burks, even with all the baggage, brings some of both. A fresh start with Geno Smith at quarterback and Chip Kelly dialing up plays might be precisely what he needs.

The Raiders are in no rush. But with training camp right around the corner, a move like this could turn into a sneaky-good headline come September.
