Raiders are in critical 3-game stretch

Things are not great for the Las Vegas Raiders three games into the Pete Carroll era.

They are 1-2 and are coming off of back-to-back double-digit losses.

Yet, not all is lost and there is an opportunity for the Raiders to get back on track. A few things to consider:

  • 10 of the 16 teams in the AFC have losing records. One of the six teams with a winning record, the Cincinnati Bengals, are playing most of the season without star quarterback Joe Burrow and was just blown out in their first game without him. There is a good chance the final playoff spot could be achieved in the 8-9 win mark.
  • The Raiders are tied for second place (and last place) in the AFC West with both the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs, who are also both 1-2. Either the Chiefs or Baltimore Ravens will fall to 1-3 after they meet in Week 4.
  • Yes, the Raiders blew a great opportunity when they couldn’t beat the Washington Commanders in Week 3 without star quarterback Jayden Daniels. But the next three games are winnable as they play at home against the 1-2 Chicago Bears, at the 3-0 Indianapolis Colts (are they really for real?) and the 0-3 Tennessee Titans at home before going to Kansas City. If the Raiders can go 2-1 in this stretch, they would be 3-3 going into the Chiefs game.
  • So, there is a lot of season remaining and while things aren’t looking great, there’s reasons to believe the Raiders can get right soon.
