Giants land Abdul Carter and Tyler Shough in new PFF 7-round mock
You know the drill. Another week, another New York Giants 7-round mock draft to dissect—and this one comes from Pro Football Network, with a few eyebrow-raising picks and a couple that feel like sneaky value.
Let’s take a look at the latest haul, with my thoughts along the way.
PFN says:
The Giants have a lot of needs, and EDGE isn’t the most pressing, but with Kayvon Thibodeaux’s fifth-year option decision looming, Abdul Carter could be long-term value. The Giants did their homework on him with multiple visits, and his explosiveness next to Brian Burns and Dexter Lawrence could be special.
Sam’s Take:
It’s the pick I’d expect at No. 3, and it’s a safe one. Carter is as versatile as it gets and is still developing at edge after playing linebacker, and his burst and power are undeniable. He was injured during the CFP and was still best player on the field.
PFN says:
The Evan Neal experiment is likely nearing its end. Simmons offers better range, leverage, and recovery tools—everything you want in a modern right tackle.
Sam’s Take:
This is one of my favorite picks in the mock. Simmons is raw but tools-y, and Jermaine Eluemunor is not signed long term. If Neal flames out, this gives the Giants a smoother transition.
PFN says:
Shough has the arm strength and athleticism to be an eventual starter, but the accuracy issues and decision-making inconsistencies still linger.
Sam’s Take:
Shough’s upside is intriguing, and it makes sense to take a swing at quarterback without using premium capital. But, Milroe and McCord show just as much upside and seem to have more connections to the Giants and Brian Daboll.
PFN says:
Even with Chauncey Golston added in free agency, the Giants could use more help inside. Mills brings a powerful, gap-destroying presence with his 3-tech profile.
Sam’s Take:
Mills is a solid rotational pick here. He won’t be a game-wrecker like Dexter Lawrence, but he can definitely eat snaps and clog lanes. The Giants need to give Lawrence more help and this gives them options.
PFN says:
Big, tough receiver with underrated contested catch ability. Adds size to a Giants room that still leans small.
Sam’s Take:
TeSlaa’s not a burner, but he’s dependable and physical. The Giants need more guys like that on third down. I don’t hate it.
PFN says:
Fidone is an athletic tight end with upside as a vertical threat and red-zone weapon. He could be a long-term TE2 or even more.
