President Donald Trump made headlines with a hilarious gaffe after the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl 54.
You may recall that after Kansas City defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 54, Donald Trump incorrectly wrote on Twitter, “We are proud of you and the Great State of Missouri.”
For those who didn’t pay attention in geography class, the Chiefs play in Kansas City, Missouri. There is another Kansas City in Kansas, but the Chiefs have been playing at Arrowhead Stadium (in Kansas City, Missouri) since 1972.
However, technically speaking, President Trump’s tweet won’t be factually incorrect much longer. On Monday, the Chiefs announced that they’re leaving Missouri and relocating to Kansas City, Kansas, in 2031.
That’s why Donald Trump’s five-year-old tweet has resurfaced among football fans:

So when the next generation of Chiefs fans reads this X/Twitter post in 2031 and beyond, it will no longer be that funny or incorrect.
According to ESPN’s Nate Taylor, the Chiefs’ new home will be a $3 billion domed stadium with a capacity of at least 65,000 seats. The new home will be built in Wyandotte County.
President Trump has made himself heavily involved in NFL-related events during his two terms in the White House. In February, he became the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl. There, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Chiefs in New Orleans.
Trump also attended the Washington Commanders’ home game against the Detroit Lions on Nov. 9. Trump was notably booed after appearing on the jumbotron.
He has also been a vocal critic of the new NFL kickoff rules and has called for the Commanders to revert to their old name. Additionally, Trump has pushed for the Commanders to name their new stadium after him. Obviously, neither scenario is all that likely.
