Happy Wednesday, Seattle Seahawks fans! It’s our first full day of the latest iteration of Field Gulls and indeed SB Nation as a whole. One of the back-end changes is the elimination of our web clipper tool, which was integrated into our old content management system and allowed us to compile all of the links for Pre-Snap Reads and have them easily paste into a post with just a few clicks.
With the SB Nation Clipper now extinct, while Pre-Snap Reads will have its usual helping of Seahawks links, but it is way too time-consuming to drop 20+ links in doing it the manual way. No NFC West or NFL links today but I’ll look at what can be eased back in. We’ll figure something out in due time but hopefully this will suffice. The main training camp story is about Mike Macdonald’s praise of Seahawks corner Riq Woolen, who’s gone from beloved rookie to a polarizing figure who’s entering the final year of his contract. I highly recommend reading the Jody Allen feature story by Sports Business Journal, which called her “the most unusual pro sports owner ever.” Why is that? You’ll have to read to find out.
Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle Seahawks’ Jody Allen might be the most unusual pro sports owner ever – Sports Business Journal Allen owns the Trail Blazers, just as she owns the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks, in the sense that nobody else has a single share of either team. As much as anyone in the NFL, NBA, NHL or MLB, she wields complete control. If she wants to fire a head coach, she can fire a head coach. If she decides to trade a franchise quarterback or an All-Star point guard, nobody can stop her.
