One of the top remaining offensive linemen still available to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the free agency market might be staying there for quite some time, as former Cleveland Browns tackle Jedrick Wills is expected to miss part or all of the 2025 season.
According to a report by Jordan Schultz of FOX on Monday, Wills is expected to still be out for quite some time as he continues to recover from a knee injury that limited him to five games last season. Wills also missed the final nine games of the 2023 season with an MCL injury.
Cleveland’s first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Alabama, Wills started 57 games over five seasons with the Browns, and was a solid starter for the first three, but never developed into the dominant forced that was hoped for when Cleveland used the No. 10 overall pick on him.
The Steelers don’t have a ton of experienced offensive line depth entering the 2025 season. Behind projected starters at tackle Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu, they have 29-year-old backup Calvin Anderson and former undrafted free agent Dylan Cook, who has never played in a regular-season NFL game.
The addition of a player like Wills could reduce the urgency required on the team’s young offensive limen to perform. Fautanu played just one game around a pair of knee injuries in 2024, while Jones will be moving to left tackle for the first time at the NFL level this season.
In addition to Wills, here are a few other options remaining on the free agency board, including fellow former Browns tackle German Ifedi, former Steelers UDFA Chris Hubbard and another injury-plagued former first-round pick in D.J. Humphries.
