While the biggest names have not yet made their decision known when it comes to underclassmen quarterbacks declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft, one player that’s still playing the College Football Playoff has already made his decision.

Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed has decided to return to the Aggies for another season, he said in an episode of Outta Pocket with Robert Griffin III this week.

Reed, 21, is in the midst of his redshirt sophomore season, and his first full season as Texas A&M’s staring quarterback.

A 6-foot-2, 180-pound Nashville native and son of former Division I head coach Rod Reed, Marcel Reed redshirted as a true freshman in 2023, appearing in three game. Last year, he started the season as the backup to Conner Weigman, but took over after an injury and ended up starting the rest of the season.

Reed finished the 2024 season with 1,864 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions and also ran for 543 yards and seven scores.

This season, he has started all 12 games for the seventh-ranked Aggies, who will host Miami in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Dec. 20.

He’s seen his draft stock rise with a strong showing, throwing for 2,932 yards and 25 touchdowns, but also threw 10 interceptions. The dual threat also ran for 466 yards and six scores.

He started the season with his ranking on the NFL Mock Draft Database consensus big board in the 400s, but rose to a peak of No. 153 — a fifth-round pick — before sliding back down before his announcement that he intends to return to Texas A&M.

Reed looks to join what could be a strong quarterback class in 2027, along with Texas quarterback Arch Manning and Ohio State Heisman Trophy finalist Julian Sayin.
