While the Green Bay Packers didn’t get to play a game this week, the 2-1-1 team did receive some positive PR with every undefeated team dropping a game over Week 5. With the Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs all losing, Week 5 proved that the NFL is truly an Any Given Sunday league.
So how do national analysts now see the Packers team, technically tied for the fewest losses in the NFL? Here’s your post-Week 5 power rankings rundown.

After an up-and-down start to the year, the early bye week should be a godsend for the Packers. Like the Eagles in 2024, Green Bay still needs to find its identity in the passing game beyond asking Jordan Love to push the ball deep downfield so often. If these Packers truly are Super Bowl contenders, they’ll take advantage of this early bye to get healthy and make some adjustments that could kick off a hot streak.

There’s a fairly clear to-do list coming out of the bye. One key objective is fixing the offensive line, with the hope that the eventual returns of Zach Tom, Aaron Banks and Anthony Belton can contribute to that solution. Another one is reducing the penalties; the Packers have averaged nearly nine per game. There are also the matters of cleaning up special-teams operations, honing the coverage in the secondary and returning to the sort of three-phase execution we saw in Weeks 1 and 2. Coming off the 40-40 tie with Dallas, a lot of the talk centered on the surprising dip from the Packers’ defense, and there are still plenty of Jordan Love doubters out there. But if Green Bay fixes some of those primary concerns, this is a Super Bowl-caliber team.

They got a bye week to ponder how they lost to Cleveland and followed that up with an unsatisfying tie in Dallas. If they want to stay in the top 10, they better beat the Bengals this weekend.

The Packers’ defense ranks fourth in real football (fewest yards allowed per game and second against the run), but that hasn’t translated to fantasy points. Green Bay is tied for 20th (5.3 fantasy points per game) after ranking third last season (8.2). That’s in large part because the Packers have struggled to cause turnovers. They have just two interceptions and no fumbles recovered, which comes after 17 interceptions and 14 fumbles recovered last season. Though they’re getting pressure on opposing quarterbacks — thanks in part to edge rusher Micah Parsons — they’re not getting fantasy managers points with takeaways.

Coming off their bye, the schedule gets a little soft the next few weeks, starting Sunday with the Bengals at home. The defense has to get back on track after getting abused by the Cowboys the last time out.
