Field Gulls
Was it all a dream? When we used to fret about the intent of our favorite team? The days and hours spent listening to podcast after podcast, reading article after article, fretting over a San Francisco crew that has demonstrated clear talent and sass this season? The years of half-hearted finishes to languid seasons by our Seattle Seahawks, rolling into sporadic playoff appearances with a self-conscious and careful approach that led to unsatisfying losses? In an instant, Rashid Shaheed broke apart the rickety shackles of a decade of mid-ness by electrifying a rabid Seattle crowd, returning the much anticipated opening kick-off for a touchdown. My instant reaction, identical to many of us ‘Hawks fans no doubt, was wet eyes and a hearty belly laugh. From there, utter domination. Clear, concise, methodical. Our ship has righted itself, on course, and with arguably more focus and fervor than ever before. Smarter, faster, heartier. In a playoffs lacking a truly dominant challenger, is it not clear? Are we not the dominant ones? How exciting, to let the answer reveal itself to us week-by-week, play-by-play. On to the NFC Championship game to face..… umm, really, who cares. I think we’ve got this. Thanks for being here. Go, ‘Hawks!
