Possible Steelers QB Target in 2025 NFL Draft Grew Up a Ravens Fan

The Pittsburgh Steelers could target Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe in the 2025 NFL Draft, but could his NFL fandom prevent that?

MOBILE, Ala. — The Pittsburgh Steelers will likely take a swing on a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft and many believe that could be on Alabama’s Jalen Milroe. However, Steelers fans may want to look away after he revealed his favorite NFL team during the first day of the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl on Monday.

“Secretly, I’m actually a Ravens fan,” Milroe said. “I grew up a Ravens fan, so I pull for the Ravens.”

While Steelers fans may not love hearing those words coming from Milroe’s mouth, that shouldn’t stop the team from doing its homework on him.

Milroe is a very intriguing talent that the Steelers could probably land on Day 2 or 3 of the draft.

The 22-year-old has thrown for 5,678 yards and 39 touchdowns while also rushing for 1,257 yards and 32 touchdowns over the past two years at Alabama.

His dual-threat ability has already drawn several comparisons to NFL quarterbacks, most notably, Baltimore Ravens two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.

“Lamar Jackson is very dominant. It’s been evident to how he’s played this season. For someone that aspires to go to the NFL, just seeing how he takes his game to the next level each and every year, him being at the top of the league and him definitely being a top-five quarterback in the NFL, that’s inspiring, for sure,” Milroe said. “That definitely puts a smile on my face. I definitely love watching Lamar.”

Drafting Milroe wouldn’t be the first time that the Steelers drafted a Ravens fan, either. In 2021, Pittsburgh selected linebacker Quincy Roche in the sixth round. Roche was then tasked with converting his Ravens family into Steelers fans.

Ultimately, Roche didn’t work out, but that doesn’t mean Milroe won’t. The main question is will the Steelers have a shot at landing Milroe?

Following the first day of the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl, that’s looking more and more likely.
