ESPN analyst Chris “Mad Dog” Russo had a run-in with police at Heathrow Airport in London that nearly led to his arrest.

The sports radio icon had a European getaway all planned out, but it didn’t take long before things went awry.

Russo scheduled an eight-day father-son golf trip to Dornoch, Scotland, as part of his break. But what was supposed to be a fun trip turned into a logistical fiasco because his son, Tim, flew from Phoenix to London through Dallas, only to learn that his golf clubs had gone missing.

Mad Dog searched Heathrow for around two hours, and they were eventually located, but British Airways refused to release them into his care, pointing to airport protocol.

“So Timmy’s clubs had to stay at Heathrow overnight and he didn’t have his golf clubs on Saturday because British Airways… wouldn’t give it to his father!” Russo exclaimed. “Here’s their answer, ‘It’s protocol, sir.'”

Given Russo’s personality, he was never going to let this go and got into a very animated confrontation with the airline staff that drew attention from security, who summoned police.

Russo would avoid arrest by taking on a gentler tone with the officers.

He relayed his nightmare during a ‘First Take’ segment this week. You can check him out in the video below:

As it turns out, the Heathrow debacle wasn’t the only thing that upset Russo. His JetBlue flight from JFK to Edinburgh was delayed and ultimately canceled, leaving him scrambling frantically to rebook, which caused the golf clubs to go missing in the first place.

So what was supposed to be a dream golf vacation turned into a headache, complete with delays, missing luggage, and annoying protocols.

At least we got an entertaining rant about it. Then again, there’s always something for Chris Russo to be mad about – that much is certain.
