The NYPD officer who was killed in Monday’s Manhattan shooting has been identified.

The shocking events that unfolded at the 345 Park Avenue skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan saw four people killed, with a gunman named Shane Tamura, a Las Vegas native, opening fire in the building.

One of the victims was a police officer who was working a security detail for Rudin Management. He has been IDd as Didarul Islam.

Islam was an immigrant from Bangladesh who was in his fourth year on the job. He leaves behind a wife and two children, with his spouse also pregnant with their third child.

“Police Officer Didarul Islam represented the very best of our department,” the NYPD said. “He was protecting New Yorkers from danger when his life was tragically cut short today. We join in prayer during this time of incomprehensible pain. We will forever honor his legacy.”

New York City Mayor Eric Adams praised Islam for his bravery, hailing him as a hero who sacrificed his life to save others.

The Other Casualties Of Manhattan Shooting Remain Unnamed

Tamura’s other victims included a female civilian, who was fatally wounded while trying to take cover behind a pillar in the lobby, a male security guard taking cover behind a desk, and a male office worker believed to be an executive at Blackstone.

An NFL employee was also critically injured and remains in stable condition at hospital. The staffer was identified in an internal memo to staff from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Tamura died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after barricading himself on the 33rd floor. A suicide note was found in his pocket that suggests he blamed the NFL for what he believed was CTE.
