Poland seriously has a 4th of July festival where people role-play as Ohioans, Browns fans

With the United States celebrating our 250th anniversary, July 4th has a little extra meaning in 2026. For Cleveland Browns fans, that means boats, hiking, grilling, and, of course, fireworks. Whether the Browns have fireworks on the field this season could depend on a lot of things, like their offensive “X-Factor,” their ability to run the ball, the rookies having an impact, and talented players taking the next step.

This article is only loosley tied to Cleveland’s football team, but sometimes things just fall in your lap that are so interesting that you have to share with as many people as possible.

Today, that is the fact that people in Poland have a Live Action Role-Play (LARP) festival around the 4th of July where they dress up as Ohioans, including wearing Browns jerseys. You read that right: Polish people have created a fictional town of “Pristine Park, Ohio” where, as noted on Reddit, they try to immerse themselves in what they think American life is like:

Set in the fictional “Pristine Park, Ohio,” players transform Polish holiday resorts into simulated trailer parks, complete with Cleveland Browns jerseys, Ohio state flags, and backyard barbecues. While the event features quintessential activities like Miss 4th of July pageants and pie competitions, it is designed as a “social drama” that explores the complexities of the American Dream through deeply scripted characters.

You can scroll through some hilarious, if not stereotypical, pictures from the festival. The Facebook page for the event has over 7,000 followers with a deep storyline among their most recent posts:

I could have sworn a few of my relatives here in Ohio were in this picture from their Facebook page:

SB Nation’s James Dator shared that the Netflix Mockumentary “Documentary Now!” has an episode that is similar where people of Finland have an annual Al Capone parade but know nothing about Chicago or Capone’s history.

At this point in time, almost nothing surprises us in this great big, interesting world we live in. Well, maybe a Cleveland Browns Super Bowl in the next few seasons might. Otherwise, finding out that there is a European country that role-plays as Ohioans for the 4th of July falls just short of surprising, landing at interesting and funny.

Maybe we should do a Polish-themed festival somewhere in Ohio… wait, I’m being told by Google there are multiple around the state, including “Polish Picnic” in Cleveland on July 18th. Maybe not a lot of role-playing going on, but certainly some celebration of the food.
