Field Gulls Field Gulls

A bird team won the Super Bowl in emphatic fashion. Can the Seahawks learn anything from what the Eagles did to the Chiefs?

The 2024 NFL season is over and a bird team won the Super Bowl.

Nope, not the Seattle Seahawks, but the Philadelphia Eagles. It felt like just the other day that Drew Lock and Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Julian Love helped send the Eagles into a complete tailspin. They bounced back from their 2023 collapse, didn’t fire Nick Sirianni or get rid of Jalen Hurts, hired new coordinators, added more talent in free agency plus the NFL Draft, and kicked the Kansas City Chiefs’ ass in Super Bowl 59. The 40-22 score was kind to the Chiefs, who were thoroughly outmatched on offense and struggled to contain Jalen Hurts’ arm and his legs defensively.

The Eagles are the current model for winning in the NFC, having won two titles in the last seven seasons and come narrowly close in their first matchup with the Chiefs two seasons ago. From a Seahawks perspective, are there any takeaways we can manage from Philadelphia’s latest triumph? Of course the trenches are important, but are there other lessons to be learned besides that?

Hosts Bryce Coutts, Ryan MacMillan, and yours truly had a lot to say on Ep. 9 of ‘Pulse of the ‘Hawks’ on the HawksZone Rundown podcast. I’ve timestamped the segments if you want to fast forward or pick-and-choose what to listen to. This is also a YouTube video so if you want to hear my voice but in 2.0x speed then give it a shot. I bet it sounds funny.
