The Jets have begun their search for a new general manager. The next general manager will inherit a challenging set of circumstances. The Jets are having a horrible season, and their salary cap outlook in the short term is not very good.
The situation isn’t necessarily hopeless, however. It is very likely that the Jets are in for a lean 2025. What happens after that isn’t set in stone. The Jets have the potential for a turnaround within two years if the next general manager comes in with the right strategy.
We discuss that strategy on today’s podcast episode. I see three things that any general manager needs to accomplish. They deal with extending prime talent on the roster, getting the salary cap into working order, and stockpiling extra Draft picks. From there, the future could actually be bright for the Jets, and sooner than many think.
