Plays That Defined the 2024 Bills: Away Games Runoff bracket
Buffalo Rumblings Buffalo Rumblings

We’ve settled on a single play from each game to represent or “illustrate” that part of the Buffalo Bills’ 2024 season. Now it’s time to pit those plays against each other in a ruthless contest to decide what play stands above them all to be crowned the Play That Defines the 2024 Season.

Which moment will join the hall of awesome started with Josh Allen Jumping Over Things?

Runoff Game 1

Ka’imi Fairbairn wins the game for the Texans (Seven Seed)

vs.

James Cook’s touchdown against Lions (10 Seed)

Our first away game pits defeat against victory. Heartbreak against rapture. Something vs. its opposite. You get the idea.

Against the Houston Texans and Detroit Lions, the games were decided by a single score but with opposite results. Ka’imi Fairbairn kicked a last-second long field goal to take the win over the Bills. Versus the Lions, the opponent also scored at the end of the game against the Bills. However, that does mean Detroit only made it look as close as it was thanks to a last gasp. James Cook’s touchdown helped Buffalo get a comfortable lead to get to that final result.

Which play best illustrates/defines the 2024 season? Both moments were thrilling but for different reasons. The question then becomes, which play better highlights how you feel the 2024 season went.

Runoff Game 2

Punt return touchdown against Rams (Eight Seed)

vs.

Ja’aMrcus Ingram pick six against Dolphins (Nine Seed)

Like above, we pit triumph against defeat. Unlike above, both games were not close. The Bills thrashed the Miami Dolphins down in Florida. On the West Coast against the Los Angeles Rams, the game was close in a shootout. Going back to similarities, both plays feature atypical scores.

Now clearly I know what play in both brackets fans of the Buffalo Bills PREFER. But the goal is to identify what play better illustrates the season on a whole. Will it be the loss or the win? The fluke or the other fluke? It’s decision time.
