We’ve settled on a single play from each game to represent or “illustrate” that part of the Buffalo Bills’ 2024 season. Now it’s time to pit those plays against each other in a ruthless contest to decide what play stands above them all to be crowned the Play That Defines the 2024 Season.
Which moment will join the hall of awesome started with Josh Allen Jumping Over Things?
vs.
The Away Games One Seed was the worst nightmare for Bills fans coming into the Baltimore Ravens game. On the first play from scrimmage, star running back Derrick Henry broke free for a long (and way too easy) touchdown.
That goes against a long touchdown from a running back going the other way. Figuratively that is, they’re both running the same way from our GIF perspective. James Cook and his hair have to put in a little more effort for the Bills’ score.
vs.
Pick six vs. pick six. Taron Johnson vs. Ja’Marcus Ingram. Which one is the better illustration? Do you go for Taron Johnson, widely seen as a pillar of defense? Or do you vote based on the game and the arguably more important AFC East contest against the Miami Dolphins?
vs.
In the 2024 season, Taron Johnson plays were pretty popular with y’all. There are two in this bracket and a third in the home games. Will the Taron Johnson love continue or will the play representing the game with the biggest heartbreak of the year move on? You might notice I’ve been trying to get to two paragraphs for these head-to-head hype sections but I’m pretty sure I can cut this one short.
vs.
This contest may just be the most fun head-to-head we’ve ever ended up with. Ten years ago if you had told me the Bills closed the season against the Patriots and our starting quarterback was only in the game for one snap to preserve his games-started streak I’d have scoffed at the notion. Josh Allen’s grin as he exits the game to rest for the playoffs is all of us who lived through the drought.
Up against that moment is a play representing the triumph of the Bills pretty directly and indirectly showing the history of the division. Resurgent quarterback Geno Smith is a reminder of worse times perhaps, but in this context his presence helps illustrate how far the Bills have risen.
